It’s here!  The Hostess with the Mostess line for Cricut is now available in Joann Stores!!!  I’m SOOOO excited to show you this project, and for you to see her entire line in stores and online now!  Jenn is such a vibrant and creative person, and you can really see her personality shine through in her designs.  I’m lucky to have met her and have gotten to know her better on this fun project!

If you’re new around here Jenn from Hostess with the Mostess, Tara from Rad + Happy, and I are the three designers picked by Cricut and Joann Stores to help you become more #Fearless in your crafting and get those creative hands working on fun new projects!  We’ve been having a blast working with each other’s fun, and incredibly diverse and different lines of product all summer long.

What kind of vinyl do you use for Cricut?

I’ve been mostly using their new lines of Patterned Cricut vinyl for all my projects.  It’s so on trend and fun, and you know I love a great pattern.

How does the Cricut vinyl work?

Cricut Vinyl is basically an amazing way to make your own custom stickers and intricately cut designs without having to find a custom cutting company.

Do you need transfer tape for vinyl?

It’s not necessary, but it’s SUCH a lifesaver!  My bestie and I were crafting one day and she’d had her Cricut well over a year, and when she saw my transfer tape she started laughing and mentioned she’d been applying all her letters by hand.  Individually.  Try transfer tape!!!  You’ll love it!

What will vinyl stick to?

I’ve used it on glass, vinyl, metal, plastic, and wood.  Computers, cars, water bottles, shampoo bottles, walls, windows, mirrors and more.  If the surface is nice and flat Cricut vinyl will probably stick to it.

From Cricut: Cricut Premium Vinyl – Permanent is ideal for projects that need to weather the storm, from mailboxes to mugs, to outdoor signage and more. It’s a water-resistant and UV-resistant film with an adhesive that can last for up to 3 years.

Can Cricut vinyl go in dishwasher?

I get this question a lot surprisingly.  Anything labelled “Permanent” vinyl is considered dishwasher friendly.  But what does that mean?  It means you can put it in your dishwasher and it should hold up great.  I’m a rebel and use my NON Permanent vinyl all the time on water bottles and just hand wash, OR know I’m going to be making something cute new and fun when it eventually needs to be replaced.  My kids are big fans of always getting to redo theirs so it’s never been a really big issue around my house.

WHAT YOU NEED TO MAKE A PENCIL POUCH WITH CRICUT ACCESS FILES

Measure your pouch and make sure your image will fit! Select the customize option if you want to make sure your image will work for your pouch.

Cut the image using the Vinyl setting on the dial.

Weed your image using the beautiful gold weeding tool included in your Wild Rose Bundle on your Cricut BrightPad.   I’m in love with the gold weeding tool if you can’t tell.  And my Bright Pad makes it way easier for me to see the lines I’m trying to find.

Cut transfer tape to fit over your image.

Peel off backing and apply clear tape to your cut image.  Peel backing off cut image.

Center on pouch and use Wild Rose scraper to burnish down your design, and carefully peel back transfer tape.

All done!  Now enjoy your project and fill it up with fun supplies to create with!  Tag me @nataliemalanstudio on Instagram and Facebook if you ever use my tutorials or products, I’d love to feature YOU in my stories!
