Simple Valentine’s Day Party Ideas

My daughter Alice has been obsessed with Valentine’s Day since halloween this year, and as a busy working mama I wanted to make some cute and simple decorations for her. You can find our free printable “Be Mine” garland here. It cuts on two pages of 12×12 paper and doesn’t waste ANY. You get a darling large banner, and a bunch of cute hearts to tape up!

No Cricut? No problem . Print the file on trimmed down 8.5×11 Scrapbook paper and cut by hand! We used my new lines for Cricut for all of the projects in this series of posts! You check out my “Juneberry” line here!

Valentine Heart Cake Stickers

I also collaborated with my friend Ashley Klaja on some darling “Cake Stickers” made out of my SummerSet Cricut Vinyl! I cut the vinyl all the way through as if it was cardstock to make these darling hearts for the side of the cake. Since they are made of vinyl, they don’t get grease spots on them like paper would, and are perfect to make ahead of time and freeze on your cake! I love this idea for a baby shower too; there are sooooo many custom things you could do with this product!

We used a 6 inch cake round for this cute cake, so we didn’t end up using both swans that are included in the download. Or the large doily heart. I have plans to make a Valentine’s Day box for my daughter with the cut files and I thought others might like that idea as well, so you will see all the files included. My plan is to use foam stick squares to adhere the layers together to give it depth and dimension.

This is how I’m planning to layout the designs on her Valentine’s box. We will see if she agrees with my placement – which is highly unlikely. Alice is my mini art director and has no problems shaking things up.

But the cakes she LOVED and gave two thumbs up! Ashley took both cakes home after the shoot, so my plan is to purchase a “naked” cake from the bakery for Alice’s party and print out some more swans super quick for the topper! It will be simple and easy and I know Alice is going to love it.
